And he’s never shown the least bit of interest in her or anything else that wasn’t recorded in the corporate minutes. But when their plane crashes on the way to a meeting, leaving them stranded on a deserted island…just the two of them, all alone with all that ocean around them…Kara decides it’s time to start living. And by living, she means using Max for all the hot sex she’s been denied.Max wants Kara—has wanted her for a long time. Unable to come out and cross the line between professional and personal, he makes her accompany him on business trips just to have her around. When they crash land and Kara shows him how much she wants him, he decides to quit being so professional and take the woman of his dreams. After all, what happens in the middle of nowhere, stays in the middle of nowhere. Until they’re rescued.Back in the real world, things aren’t as easy. Kara is afraid to start a relationship with a man who completely ignored her until she took off her clothes, and Max is afraid she’ll never be able to trust him.But when someone makes it clear that Kara’s in danger, Max has more to protect than Kara’s feelings. And now that he has her, he’s not about to let her go.
Before we get to the writer stuff, let’s put your reader hat on…As a READER what initially draws your attention when selecting a book; then what requirements must a book meet to gain a 5-star review from you. Now with your writer hat on…Do you consider those same things when you sit down to write?
My interest has to be caught by the cover, the title and then the blurb. If those three don’t do it, but it comes highly recommended I’ll still give it a go. For a book to meet a 5 star review from me all it needs to do is keep me reading straight to the end. I have a tendency of skipping paragraphs and pages if I find it lacking or boring.
I do consider these things when I write. If I start to have hazy vision while I’m reading my own stuff, I need to change things around. I feel the need for pacing things and keeping it interesting is very much for my readers benefit as my own.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I need complete silence. I am constantly told by other writers how they listen to these loud CDs and songs and I can’t do it. My focus has to be deep into what I am doing to be able to describe and write it to the best of my ability in a way that the reader can see what I do.
What kind of research did you do for this book? Another book?
Hahaha. Well for Stranded I can tell you I had previous experience with fun stuff at the beach ;) with the hubs. I am from the Caribbean, so visualizing an island was easy. I think I had experience in most of what happened, except for some intense parts, I really enjoyed writing Stranded. A lot of people love referring to Mr. Buff and asking me if I’ve done that kind of stuff, but I work in a glass building and I just let my imagination run wild lol.
What are you most proud of about your writing career so far?
How much fun I am having. I think once you start taking it too seriously you lose yourself and forget why you started to write to begin with, because you love it. I know that’s why I write. The lines can blur once you have a release and get so focused in sales and rankings. I prefer to continue writing and focusing on the stories I have in my head and putting them on paper. Writing is my outlet to release tension and stress. I love it and I encourage others to not let sales or figures stomp their writing in favor of going promo crazy. A good book will sell itself. And you don’t need to do 24/7 promo to get the word out. That’s what word of mouth is all about. So I think I’m most proud I haven’t lost myself in that side of the publishing world.
