Unwritten + Review + Giveaway: Take Me Home, Cowboy by Krista Ames

Ally Kincaid returns to Freewill, Wyoming, to see her father after a two year absence. Anticipating a quiet family reunion, she finds herself butting heads with her father’s foreman instead. The man’s arrogance and sexy drawl push all her buttons, making her wonder what he’s hiding beneath his cowboy swagger.

Matt Gentry walked away from the past and shies from the future. No ties means no one gets hurt…until the boss’s daughter, a hot, green-eyed blonde, tempts him to break his own rules.

When tragedy strikes, will building tension and pride destroy their growing attraction or show them the way home?

Here is a previously unwritten scene by Krista Ames.

It's a bit of an alternate scene rewrite in Matt's point of view for after he and Ally take a walk in the barn following dinner and then Ally retires to bed first.

Just a little dream sequence from Matt.

Back in his room for the night, Matt opened the window and looked out; contemplating the things he’d been missing in his life.
As he breathed in the country night air, his thoughts drifted to the spitfire in the bedroom next to his.  Was she looking out the window too?  If he leaned his head out his window would he see her?    Did it matter?
Shaking his head, he knew Ally was more than likely a risk he just didn’t need to take right now but she was definitely fun to antagonize.  Didn’t hurt she was easy on the eyes too.  Boy if her daddy wouldn’t just tan his hide if he ever touched her though.  But what if things did work out?  Would Jesse be mad if he caught them?
“Don’t even think about it, just stick to what you know and stay away from the women.”
He shed his clothes, crawled in bed and made an important phone call.  One he’d been trying to put off for a few days but knew if he didn’t make it, he’d feel terrible.  After a bit of conversation he said his goodbyes and disconnected.  Laying back in bed with only his lower half covered, his eyes slowly fell closed as his thoughts drifted next door of their own accord.
“Damn it Gentry, what in the sam-hell did you do to my daughter?”
“Jesse, please calm down. It’s not good for your blood pressure and anyway, I’m really not sure what you’re getting at here?”  Matt was literally shaking in his boots after he’d been caught in the barn in a compromising position with Ally.
“Can’t fool an old man like me I’m afraid.  I know you’ve had your eye on my sweet Ally-cat since she came back home.  What makes you think you’re good enough for her?”
“Sir, really I don’t know what you mean.  There’s nothing going on between me and your daughter.”  Shit.  Matt knew something like this would happen.  He’d ruined Jesse’s trust and taken a liking to the boss’s daughter all in one fell swoop.  Not smart.
“Wait a minute Jesse, what are you doing with that gun?”
“Oh, this little old pistol?  This is just a very good friend of mine here.  See’uns how you can’t keep your hands to yourself, maybe we outta just settle this once & for all, whatta ya say?”
***
Matt Gentry sat straight up in bed with a start.  Was that a gun shot?
“Damn I hate nightmares.”  Matt wiped his hand across his sweaty forehead.  “No need to be finding out if Jesse really has that gun.  Definitely my sign to be stayin’ away from the boss’s daughter.”

I’ll be honest, I am a big fan of contemporary western romances…and books like Take Me Home, Cowboy are the reason. This is my first book by author Krista Ames and I was very impressed that she put such a delightful twist on old favorite ~ big city girl returns to her roots where she discovers love.

This is a very sweet and touching romance between two people that soon discover an attraction through sexual tension. The author was even able to turn something that normally completely repulses me -- characters who keep secrets from each other – into something wonderful. Matt never let his secret get in the way of his character or his genuine feelings for Ally; you could feel the very deep emotional connection between the characters,

I could go on and on about this book, but it's better for you to just go buy it and then read it.

Disclosure: This ebook was provided to me free of charge by Decadent Publishing for the sole purpose of an honest review. All thoughts, comments, and ratings are my own.
