Guest Post + Giveaway ~ Kiss the Bride By Jody Wallace

Things you didn't know Jody Wallace had crocheted!

I'm a writer by trade, and that naturally takes up the majority of my free time. Writing is one of those jobs it's hard to leave at the office, because even when you're supposed to be on vacation, your brain is still going to be thinking story story story story cool story characters look at that I want to write it yay! The most innocuous conversation overheard at the mall can turn into something you just HAVE to jot down before you forget it.

That being said, even writers need hobbies that kinda sorta allow them to put their careers out of their minds and take a break. Right now, my favorite hobby outside of reading is crocheting. I love amigurumi in particular and am starting to teach myself to crochet beaded jewelry. Alas, I didn't learn how to crochet jewelry in time for the Kiss the Bride blog tour's big giveaway -- let's just say the acorn necklace I made does NOT compare to the one I found on Etsy -- but I'm still working on it. Some day, my jewelry might be just as cool as my zombie wedding cake toppers!

Just for grins, I thought I'd share a list of the myriad things I've crocheted over the years. Keep in mind I prefer short projects and am currently afghan-free. I love tying off the last stitch in a crochet project the same way I love writing "The End" on a story, so I keep my crochet projects small and mobile to increase my stitching to satisfaction ratio!

A LIST OF THINGS I'VE CROCHETED:
1) Evil gnomes
2) A Devo hat
3) An ice cream cone purse

4) Earrings and bracelets
5) A baby blanket that never got finished because I lost the urge to work on
it when I actually gave birth
6) 30 moustaches
7) Spats
8) A Mary Poppins hat for a tap recital I was in. Yes, as Mary Poppins.
9) A small possum
10) Zombies. Lots and lots of zombies.
11) Eyeballs. Lots and lots of eyeballs.
12) A Rebel Alliance hotpad
13) A Christmas Tree for the kids' Littlest Pet Shop set

Anybody else out there into the craftier side of the arts?

Herman Edward Heckley knows all about drywall, concrete, and nail guns. So what's he doing fighting off taffeta in a bridal salon? He’s maid of honor for his best friend, Caroline Oakenfeld, in her wedding to a pencil-necked geek. But the closer he gets to the ceremony, the more he wonders if he's been missing out all this time.

Caroline has been missing out, and she knows it. She’s been in love with Heck forever, but frittering her life away until Heck wises up isn’t part of her life plan. She’s agreed to marry her boyfriend so she can move on with her life. But the closer she gets to the ceremony, the more she realizes she has to resolve her feelings for Heck.

For better or for worse.

About the Author:

Jody Wallace grew up in the South in a very rural area. She went to school a long time because there was always something new to learn and ended up with a Master's Degree in Creative Writing. Her resume includes college English instructor, technical documents editor, market analyst, web designer, and general all around pain in the butt. She currently lives in Tennessee with her family: 1 husband, 2 kids, 2 cats. One of her many alter egos is "The Grammar Wench", which should give you an indication of her character. She is a terrible packrat and likes to amass vintage clothing, books, Asian-inspired kitchenware, gnomes, and other items that threaten to force her family out of the house. She also likes cats. A lot.

Ms. Wallace's approach to writing is to tell as many outlandish lies as she can get her readers to swallow. Her dream is to be moderately well-paid for this service. She is active in RWA and occasionally conducts writing workshops. Among topics she's been known to cover are training sessions for contest judges (she coordinated her local RWA chapter contest for many years), point of view, dialogue punctuation and creativity enhancement.

Her headshots were taken by Cindy Sarlo Photography of Dixon, TN.
