Through Fights and Fire, Prejudice and Passion, Burns A Special Kind of Love
A divorced school teacher, estranged from her family, wants to start over. Sharon Daily moves to Gaines, Wyoming with her ten year old autistic son, Aaron. She hoped to find kindness and acceptance in this small town. She wasn’t looking for love…
Tanner West, the Fire Chief of Gaines, seems to have it all. Great job, loving family, and any woman he wants to warm his bed at night. But, Tanner has suffered too. A Native American in a white world, he longs to find love and acceptance. He is ready for more than someone to share his bed. He wants someone to share his life. And Sharon really lights his fire.
Making a life with Sharon will require A Special Kind of Love.
When in A Special Kind of Love by Tamara Hoffa, Sharon and her son Aaron move to a small country town in Wyoming they meet Chief Tanner West – town fire chief and proceed to quickly fall in love. Similar to many single moms Sharon has a lot of baggage from her previous marriage and even more so since her ex-husband and family couldn’t deal with Aaron’s autism.
This is a sweet love story with a couple of tame sex scenes thrown in. It is nice to see developed characters with life experiences drawn into a scene that you could see happening in modern day USA. The author wrote a well-developed autistic child and it was interesting to see that play out in this love story where true to the life of parents their story involves so much more than just their immediate feelings and desires.
Even the characters around them, whom you see little of, were characters I could picture in real life. This includes – racist people around you, people who make assumptions about the mentally challenged, even Tanner’s family. Tanner’s mother took Aaron under her wing nearly immediately which is entertaining to watch a child who does not even like being touched drawn into the love and care of a grandmother.
