Meet the Author

Krystal Shannan lives in Texas with her husband and young daughter. She teaches in the public schools and writes as much as she can in her free time. If any more spare time can be squeezed from her day, she enjoys reading romance in all genres, but especially paranormal. In addition to a doting husband and a spunky daughter, a stubborn Welsh Corgi completes the household, adding hours of entertainment and fun to their lives.

Thank you so much for having me on your blog today. I’m so glad you offered to host me.

I want to say a few words about the lovely people at Decadent Publishing. A Very Russian Christmas was my first sale to Decadent and they were fantastic. I loved working with everyone there. They were professional and knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and their editors were fabulous. I am proud to say that I learned a lot working with them. I recommend to all you writers out there -- be sure and submit to Decadent Publishing. You won’t be disappointed.

Secondly, I know this is a holiday novella, BUT, I promise you won’t really even notice. The story isn’t about Christmas. It’s about Ksenia and Matt. So don’t think you can’t enjoy this story at any time of the year.

I like high action fast-paced plots. My books tend to hit the ground running and rarely slow down. It’s the style I prefer to read too, so it’s no surprise that my own writing follows that path. I guess you could say I’m more of a Die Hard, Tomb Raider, UnderWorld sorta gal, verses The Notebook or The Vow. Not that The Notebook or The Vow weren’t good movies, (I watched both and enjoyed them) just that I’d much rather a faster more action driven plot.

What kind of books do you like to read? Are they plot driven or character driven?

For most of her adult life, bodyguards have shadowed Ksenia Sharanov, daughter of a Russian mobster. Needless to say, her sex life has been non-existent. The last guy she dated broke her heart when she found out he was only with her for father’s power and money.

A long-standing family feud between her father and the Petrov family has made her father overprotective, to say the least. In a spontaneous moment of generosity, her dad tells her to take her NYU roommates on a Christmas ski vacation. She jumps at the chance to have a weekend with just her girls...and of course her bodyguard.

Unfortunately, her father’s enemies have been following her more closely than anyone could have anticipated. The mistake will cost a life…but will it cost her heart? Or will she find love in the arms of a complete stranger?
Ignore the title and submerge yourself in this hot wintry tale anytime of year. The author crafted a remarkable novella length story packed full of mayhem with vivid descriptions and realistic dialogue. Great characters and strong plotlines, along with her amazing writing style, have put Krystal Shannan on my must read list.
