Review ~ Hooked for Life by J L Taft

When Brady comes home for her sister’s birthday, she’s not thrilled to see her smoking-hot high school crush, Darren. He humiliated her all those years ago and the wound still stings. Nevertheless, she can’t deny the heat of attraction between them now. Then he shocks and surprises her by apologizing for his long-ago stupidity. Then taking her back to his place. Then fulfilling every erotic desire she’s cooked up about him for the last decade.

Darren’s always had a thing for Brady, which is why he colluded with her sister to bring her back home. After treating her like a jerk in school, he was too chicken to approach her. Now they’re all grown up and there’s nothing to stop them. While the sex is the hottest either has ever had, they both want more. But with so much pain and distance between them, neither knows how to admit it.
A Romantica® contemporary erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave.
This book was definitely on the short side but it didn’t feel rushed or feel like there was no story line like some books that are less than 100 pages can feel like. When Brady left her hometown after high school she had plans of never returning. Her parents moved away and preferred the travel lifestyle as opposed to being tied down to on location and Brady had never really been close with her baby sister Melissa. When Melissa called up Brady and begged her to come home to celebrate her turning 30, Brady couldn’t turn her down. Now Brady finds herself back in her hometown surrounded by people she never talked to in high school and the one guy that she had the biggest crush on who was also behind her most embarrassing high school memory.

Darren has had undeniable feelings towards Brady for as long as he can remember but never owned up to them in high school because they were from different circles and he didn’t want his friends to make fun of him. Brady was your typical nerdy girl and Darren was super popular and on the football team. He was more friends with Melissa in high school, who was a cheerleader. Now he is older and wiser and doesn’t want to lose a second chance with Brady. She believes they will have one amazing night that she will never forget and he wants more than one night.

Overall I enjoyed this book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read about second chance love involving high school crushes.
