Guest Post + Review + Giveaway ~ Famously Engaged by Robyn Thomas

Hi Heather, thanks for inviting for inviting me to stop by today. My post is inspired by a line in the Taylor Swift/Ed Sheeran hit, Everything has Changed. The lyric is “All I know since yesterday is everything has changed.”
I’ve learned (over many years, lol) that time builds great friendships that endure as life produces new thrills and fresh challenges. Getting to know someone is usually a gradual process, but there are notable exceptions. Occasionally you’ll happen across someone who flips your entire world upside down in an instant.

Beth and Jake, my heroine and hero in Famously Engaged, had that kind of experience when they met on her doorstep… and those first moments changed everything that followed. That sudden all-the-world’s-an-eggflip feeling is one I’m familiar with. The night I met my husband is etched in my mind as clearly as if it happened yesterday rather than a quarter of a century ago. I’d just had my heart broken for the very first time and I couldn’t have been less interested in: a) being out, b) having a good time or c) meeting a new partner. And even if those things HAD been on my agenda, I’m absolutely certain I would’ve looked for a man boy my own age  My inimitable teenage awkwardness allowed me to withhold my phone number that night, but I went home knowing I’d have to wrap my head around the idea of dating an “older” man because it was about to happen. Four days later he asked me out – publicly, but that’s another story – and I said yes. Of course! The decision to spend more time with him was made long before he asked me out, and I think it’s because my intuition overruled my common sense.

In theory the timing for us was all wrong, our ages seemed incompatible (and who knew how I was going to explain him to my parents) yet somehow it was meant to be. And we knew it.

I tried to give Jake and Beth that same sense of inevitability. Their timing is appalling. They want different things, lead completely different lives and don’t even reside on the same continent. They shouldn’t ever meet, let alone get together, but fate knew what it was doing when it placed them under the same roof.

Have you ever had an eggflip moment where you felt your life change course? Do tell!
A chef and a rock star. They couldn’t be from more different worlds…

Rock star royalty’s favorite son, Jake Olsen, couldn’t help but interfere after listening to his future brother-in-law talk non-stop about his ex-wife, Beth Carlisle. Jake decides that the only way to get the groom’s mind off his ex-wife is to give her a fake fiancĂ©.

Before Jake can convince Beth of his plan, he's forced to move in with her to avoid the paparazzi. Their instant attraction makes for a sizzling "first date", but soon Jake’s fame gets in the way and Beth wants out. Too bad Jake's figured out just why her ex is so obsessed with her, and he's afraid he's not going to be able to give her up either.

Now it's up to Jake to convince this chef together they make the perfect recipe
What a great book! Famously Engaged starts out with Brad and Skyla planning a wedding! But their best friend and wedding planner is Brad' s ex-wife Beth! Brad still has a major attachment to Beth! I really thought he was still in love with her. Jake is a famous rock star as well as Skyla' s boss he also happens to be her half-brother, from an affair his father had, but Skyla doesn't know. Jake feels he needs to protect her, that included finding out if her finance was still in love with his ex-wife. So he offers to help Beth with her sick Mother.

When Jake shows up at Beth's, her mother had died. My heart immediately went out to her. Then the press showed up and labeled Jake and Beth engaged. Beth was such a strong character not only was she dealing with her mother's death, but thrown in a life a fame, she did it and kept her head up. I was pulling the entire time for Jake and Beth to be able to work out their differences and find a way to make it work! They really brought out the best in each other. There were several references of Jake finding his glass slipper in the book. I highly recommend this book. It was a great read!
